Remembering Inez

Today is the 1st anniversary of my Grandmother Inez's passing. It seems like an incredibly long year- because I have been without her. I don't know how to express how much I love my Grandmother. She was my very best friend and I miss her everyday. Since she has been gone I have had another child and she was named for her. Grandmother would have fallen in love with Sofia Inez as much as she fell for Olivia.

I miss our conversations about cooking and all the money I would save on food that I bought on sale. (She was funny that way- "thrifty".) I miss watching our TV shows together and talking two or three times a day on the telephone. I miss giving her a kiss goodbye.

I miss you Grandmother. You made me who I am today.

"Thrifty" is the way to be! I'm sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting your grandmother.

Melissa,

I am sorry to read how much you miss your grandmother. Mine passed away about 3 years ago, and I know the pain you must feel. I can tell you, although it never truly subsides, it does become easier to cope. I am, however, happy to see how beautiful your girls are. I do hope all is well with you, and hope we will meet again soon.

You are a wonderful person, and I wish I could have met your Grandmother. She'll always be with you.

I often find myself pausing to think of the funny things "Grandmama" would say and do. Oh how she loved you and Olivia. Her eyes sparkled when you were around. Victor and I consider ourselves lucky to have known her and shared some special memories of her!
